That can work, but then you've got a gun covered in more oil than it needs to be, and they end up taking up a bit of space once you start trying to do that with rifle and shotgun bags.
A proper safe with some method to dehumidify it, or at least a stack on cabinet with a dessicant canister(or one of those units you plug into the wall periodically) bolted to the wall is better than sitting in foam cases.
