    Need PPK information

I have a basically new in the box PPK in 9mm Kurz. The gun was a special group purchase by a bunch of Sheriff's Deputies a long time ago (I think late 70's). It was manufactured in West Germany and imported by Interarms, but there is no Interarms seal and logo on the slide. There have been ten rounds total fired through this gun. Gun is still in the plastic bag and I have the cleaning rod, three mags, proof target, warranty card and manual. Can anyone tell me what the ballpark value is of this gun? It is 99% condition...I will PM serial numbers if someone can date it for me...

    Thanks

Try gunbroker.com and gunsamerica.com. That will give you an idea of what they command in the US. The price may (or may not) be slightly higher here because that model is not on the 'safe guns' list.

Can I even transfer this privately in California?

Sure, face to face through an FFL. I don't know how much extra value is imparted by the LEO association though. Maybe someone more knowledgeable will chime in. You can also offer it for sale out of state.

You might try putting a post up on thehighroad.org too, in the autos section.

If you have the most recent copy of the Fjestad's Blue Book, check it out there. It'll give you a pretty good idea as to the value. $500 sounds like it is in the right ballpark.

Thanks, I will check out the High Road. It seems to me that the difference is that it does not have the Interarms logo on the slide. All of the photo's I have seen have a star looking logo with the name Interarms through it like this.
I'll post up some pics tonight...

Here is my opinion on this. The pistol you describe is probably a post 1968 import that was brought in for LE sales only and this was done for some time with the ppk. It is not likely one would find a ppk produced in the 1970's for sale anywhere, there are a few pre 68 guns to be had and they are usually somewhere between $500 to well over $1k depending on a few things. It would help to ID the pistol a little bit more precicely. Does it have brown plastic grips or are the grips black? What type of box does it have? There should be a date stamp on the exposed portion of the barrel in the ejection port, either a number like 66 or if it is later production it can be two letters like HH. I am not sure exactly when the change was made from numerical to using letters but I think it was in the '70s. The blue book will give a number to start from as far as value, what someone is willing to pay can be totally different.

                          Wilshire-
There is no stamp on the exposed portion of the barrel in the ejection port that I can see. The gun has black grips with writting along the bottom edge "Made in West Germany" and it came in a hard plastic black box with an orange label on one end.
