    Question RE Intra-familial Transfer

My son is buying a pistol and a rifle from me. I know the handgun has to be reported to the state using the appropriate form. Does the transfer of the rifle to my son have to be reported?

Nope, not at this time. Only handguns have to have the Intrafamilial Transfer form done.

This is correct, if your son is a CA resident.

If your son is not a CA resident, then per Federal laws the firearms need to be transferred to you through a CA FFL dealer.

Thanks for the answers. I thought the rifle didn't have to be officially transferred, but I wasn't sure. It saves $19 if we don't file a form for it.
