Mini 14 flash hider.

I got a mini 14 182 prefix serial number through a ppt. The flash hider is m14 style (looks). But is cracking in several places. I removed it and am wondering if anyone has recommendations for a replacement. I mostly want another to protect the business end of the rifle.

That is correct if you did not register your Mini as an assault weapon with the state during a reg. period. If you did register it you can have all of the "evil features" you want without a magazine lock. If you did not register it you can only have the "evil features" on the weapon if you have a fixed magazine that holds ten rounds or less.

Here are your "evil features":

(1) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:

(A) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon.
(B) A thumbhole stock.
(C) A folding or telescoping stock.
(D) A grenade launcher or flare launcher.
(E) A flash suppressor.
(F) A forward pistol grip.

I hate to think how many people out there have illegally configured mini 14s. Long ago they used to sell some pretty good accessories, like the replacement folding stocks. Before he died, my brother-in-law had several mini 14s/30s that had A, C, E and F from the above list. Thankfully, he removed the evil features before he died.

Yeah, this is a problem for many CA gun owners who followed the law when they bought or upgraded their firearm, but who simply did not realize that gun ownership in CA also requires that you regularly devote a large chunk of time to keeping up with the asinine and ever changing target that is gun law in CA.

Not too long ago I had a retired LEO (retired in the early 90's), who was also previously an LEO range officer, pull out a mini just like your describing. He had no idea that his firearm had gone from legal to illegal overnight.

Put a Muzzle brake on it instead it is not a flash hider in fact it will be a larger flash then just a plain barrel.

I believe it is the sunflower company??
I have one on one of my minis and I like it, but it is way louder now.

If you just wanna protect the threads, get a 1/2-28 knurled piece for it. Riflegear has them.

Not true. There NO threads on the end of that Mini's barrel. The front sight is pressed over the barrel, and pinned in place.
