Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 Mag Stainless

I have a chance to buy this gun for $300. It's in great shape except the screw that holds the extractor rod sheered and needs to be replaced. The gun is from 1986, 7 1/2" barrel.

    Good deal?

That sounds like a screaming deal to me.

It would definitely be a much better deal if it did not have any sheared screws. The asking price sounds fair, sight unseen I would not give much more than that. If it is in such great shape you have to ask yourself how and why did it shear a screw? Is the guy a handloader, run some seriously hot rounds through it?

I was actually there when the screw failed. It just broke using plain store bought .44 mag rounds. He's never taken it in to get it repaired, and from the looks of it, I could just back the old screw out and replace it.

He doesn't hand load, never has. Gun gets shot about 10 rounds a year, max.

I know this will make me look like an idiot, but this would be my first revolver. What is the technical term for the rod assembly that ejects the spent cases from the cylinder? I want to price check the screw.

            Edit...
Nevermind, I found a schematic at Midway. Ejector Housing Screw, $0.99.

Your friend may want to write Ruger and see if it can be considered a warranty repair issue. Odviosly its way past that but Ruger has some awsome customer service in my experience.
