    9mm/1911/HP ammo

Wife has a 1911 format sub compact. Some of these, or most of these, have feeding issues With HP ammo. What I don't want is my best friend to have any trouble feeding ammo, if she's in trouble, know what I mean ?

So, that said, I've inquired about glaser pow R Ball 9mm ammo, and looks to feed well, only problem is there in none to be found. So what do the 9mm 1911 crowd use for reliability. Please be specific as to % reliability and weight of your loads.
And if you know where I can purchase ammo you choose. Thanks guy's,
And I'll thank very much you for my wife, for this info...

Most "modern" JHPs SHOULD feed well---the bullets are designed to follow the contours of a FMJ (except for the hole, of course)---if your wifes pistol does not feed well, it's either the gun or her grip (not firm enough). If its the gun (does it feed well for you?), have it fixed. If its her lack of grip strength---work on hand strength or get a gun that is not so picky. I find the 1911 platform not to be the best for shooters with limited experience. My wife's small pistol is a lightweight Kahr CW-9---small, thin, smooth DAO trigger---runs 100% with any 115-124 JHPs I have tried (don't have any 147s). If this pistol is a Springfield Armory EMP, send it back to SA---they have a history of not working well the first time...

had a friend mention running 185 +p in his less than 5" barreled 1911

something about the "dwell time" being shorter on it so he wanted a lighter faster round as opposed to a slower 230

I have no clue if he's correct, just parroting.

I've never had feeding problems with JHPs through any of my 9s (except for the Springfield with the rough frame rails and guide rod), no matter what brand I've used.
