Does SSE need to be 22 cal?

For some unknown reason, I had in my head that SSE required the converted pistol to be 22 caliber. However, I can't seems to find the appropriate penal code to support this requirement.

The only pc I can find that mention SSE is in 32100(b), which only stipulate the converted pistol must have single shot capability only with barrel not less than 6" and overall length at least 10.5" inch. Nothing in there says anything about 22 caliber.

Can someone whom are familiar with CA penal code either, quote the appropriate penal code with caliber requirement for SSE, or just knock me in the head and set me straight?

    Thanks

    No caliber requirement.

SSE is a common way to get off-roster guns in the PRK.

Don't know the code, but SSE's are not limited to .22's.

Just to be clear, I don't mean the original caliber of the pistol, but rather the converted caliber. I know SSE can be done to a off-roster 45, 40, 38, etc. However, they almost always been converted to 22 to meet the SSE requirement. Is this a legal requirement, or for the simple fact that 22 cal barrel always fit in larger frame pistol?

Caliber of conversion can be original caliber of gun.Converting a centerfire to a rimfire would make it even harder.

Just has to be a "single shot" conversion.

Caliber is not important, only that when transferred to you (or made by you) that it can only shoot 1 round at a time and needs to be reloaded by you each time it is fired.
Gun control is a 1" group at 500 yds!
