    Customer Service & Gun Shops

Maybe it's me, because I'm a demanding customer and expect alot for what I pay for. But I've noticed in the past couple of years (been back into the firearms side of things for a few years now) that some gun shops can careless about your business and others will bend over backwards for your business. I scratch my head wondering too about the ones who can careless about you, because they've been in business the longest and how they've done so with the attitudes I've seen it just makes me wonder how they've stood in business as long as they have.

When I say demanding, I'm not pushy and pounding my fist on the counter demanding I be waiting on hand and foot. No, I'm just an average joe, shooter, collector and if I'm patronizing ones business, I expect good service. More than one friend has commented to me on the same expectations they've experienced in gun shops as well, it's just a particular few here in Northern California, for which out of courtesy I won't name their shops.

Comments folks, I'm sure I'm not the only one to get turned off by some of the attitudes folks in the business have displayed.

You should name the shops so we/they can defend themselves.

Personally, i've noticed that all of the gun shops have taken customer service to a higher level in the last six months or so.. Some that just means saying 'hello', when before they would just look at you. Some actually have smiles on their faces now.

No, I'd rather not name them, as I said out of courtesy. But I will name the cities, San Bruno and San Carlos, that shouldn't be too hard to figure out. The attitude I see is an indifferent, indignent type, if those are the proper words. As though my money means nothing to them, perhaps it was just one particular person that is like that, and it's too bad for the others because sometimes folks won't give them a chance to redeem themselves.

But all it takes is one person to create a bad experience, or bitter taste left behind. And I think I'm the easiest person in the world to get along with, though lately just not with gun shops, but at other businesses I've seen this less than stellar type attitude being displayed, as though no one could be bothered. I don't know, maybe it's just the way our society is these days, it's hard to put a finger on it.

The other shop, in Pacifica, I have nothing but high praises for them and their level of customer service. Everyone there is friendly and helpful, and that's what I like, that is a place I'm more than happy to give my money too. Also the last shop in San Francisco is good too, I haven't any issues with them as I try to do as much business with them as possible to see to it that they stay around as long as they can.

Maybe the folks running those other shops are just getting tired, maybe it's time they turn it over to some new blood that will have the drive and desire to attract new business, instead of turning it away. As I said I just don't know how to put my finger on it. I haven't been to every shop in Northern CA, just those within quick reach, so there are others I have to check out.

      Just my two cents.
