    Long range shooting

Anyone from the bay area into long range shooting?

I know the local ranges have 100 yard and 200 yard but thats it.
Just got my Savage a few weeks ago. I never shot with a scope before but in the Marines I got 239 out of 250 which qualified me for a expert badge with iron sights haha.
Im lookin for a shootin buddy to give me some help and setup

    you can also pm me.

    thanks

Circle S Ranch in Petaluma has 100, 200, and 300 yard range. I've never been there though.

Pssh, 300 yards... shooting fish in a barrel? Ha ha, just busting your chops. I've taken a few percision rifle classes and worked up to 400 yards. Very much fun.

I wish I could find something over 100 yards close to here. I only get a chance to open up the Barrett when I go playing with the Marines. Actually suprised all of them when I was hitting the moving target at 1000+ yards....

      good luck

I want to learn long range shooting myself, like 500yds. I have a buddy who was in the Marines for 12yrs, and I know he can teach me alot, but he lives in WA state now. I have another friend who spent 10yrs in the Corp, and he spent time as a trainer on the M16, he cracks me up when he talks about the 'pizza box'. He said that's the lowest badge you can get to qualify when shooting, and he says it's square shaped like a pizza box, hence the name. At any rate he's offered to add some guidance, so I need to take him up on that, haven't seen him in a long whiles anyway.

Now for a rifle, I'm looking at the CZ USA 750 Sniper model, luckily it's legal for us California types. But like all things I'm sure at some point it won't be, so I need to jump on it and purchase one as soon as I can.

Keep us posted on your progress.

              Run,

You need to read up on rifles in the precision rifle section as well. Rem and Savage are both very popular. Cz 550 is everybit as good as the 750 and costs less, but huge aftermarket for rem- savage is gaining aftermarket support, but little to none for Cz. Tikka T3 is also a good rifle at a decent price.

Funny I was in the marines 01-03 and remember some people getting pizza boxes it was funny. I got expert crossed rifles like my icon.

I already have my rifle if you click on my link in my sig. just around 1k$ for everything and plan on upgrading the stock later on.

a lot of people go down to panoche BLM for long range stuff. I like it cause you can shoot as far as you like. Normally i set up 4"x6" steel hanging plates off 36" wide pieces of black PVC from 500 to 900 yards and practice my mil skills. (or lack there of)

Enjoy and make sure to clean up after yourself.

For my little rifles (C&R) I use a lightly modified Enfield 2A and a decently modified Mosing Nagant 91/30 and M44 (91/30 for 200-400 yards and M44 for 50-200 yards).

Anyways good luck and don't work too hard.
