Have you ever been shot?

Have you ever been shot or do you know anyone who has been shot? I know two people that have been shot.

One is a girl that was driving with a bunch of other girls and a car pulled up with a bunch of guys in it and they started shooting. A bullet went through the trunk and struck her in the lower back. She still has a .45 slug lodged in her kidney. She said she did not even know she was hit untill they stopped and her friend said she was bleeding.

The other person I know was an old guy that I used to know. When he was a kid in the phillipines he was running from some Japanese soldiers and they shot at him. He was hit in the butt. He said he didn't know he was shot At first either. He felt a stinging feeling then he felt warm blood running down his leg.
He was one of the best welders I've ever seen. He said after he was captured the Japanese taught him how to weld so he could work for them. He said they would teach you something then you would practice and they would watch you and beat you if you were doing it wrong. That's how he learned to weld so good.

I just thought it was interesting that these people didn't even know they were shot at first. Everyone always likes to talk about how much knockdown power different calibers have but I don't think it really matters when someone has a bunch of adrenalin running through their body and you're shot placement is off.

Only with shotguns and they were far enough away that I was only peppered, twice.

I got shot with a BB gun in the ear. 6" from a huge disaster if it had hit me in the eye. Stupid kid behavior.

Sister's stepson was shot in the back with a 22lr. Bounced off his spine and he was fine. Then he wrecked his car a few years later and ended up with brain damage from the accident.

Shot twice, both times in the rear end, once by a farmer shooting at us kids with rock salt as we ran through his field, 6th grade

Another by a buddy with a .22 air rifle my freshman year.

I've been shot by airsoft and paintball guns. I have no plans on getting shot by anything else.

Peppered while dove hunting in imperial valley. I was shot by a Crossman pump, pellet stuck in my stomach, I got it out.

Peppered with bird shot while hunting, left marks and one bled. Hit with a cross man once, just hurt, no blood. A friend took his life with a firearm.

My son got shot in the back (and 'NO', he was not running away!) with a Mauser in Afghanistan 3 years ago. His SAPI plate probably saved his life. The impact fractured a vertebra.

It's a pretty crazy story; the story is likely to be published before too long.

A long-time SJPD officer once told me that as far as he's seen, about 80% of people shot with a handgun survive. Thats pretty good odds if true.
In this case I think I'll prefer to live vicariously through others and skip the experience all together. Stay safe out there.
