    Ill take it. WTF

Argh am I frustrated. 2 times this week I have tried to purchase a handgun from the private party section. Each time I have told them I will take it after numerous PM's about questions. Everything seems ok go to work the next day get home to a new PM asking if I still want it, I reply back that yes I do only to get another PM saying sorry sold it this morning cause you didnt reply while you were working. . Am I the only one that thinks this is a bit screwed up? I can't access the web at work due to restrictions. This is the first time on Calguns this has happend, every other item I have purchased has gone extremley well. Oh well I guess someone else will get my money.

Sorry for the rant I just cant seem to get anyone to take my money.

Numerous questions? I try to exchange phone numbers so that I can get on a deal quickly.

It's really hard to say without seeing the back and forth PMs.

It sounds a little odd, but if you are consistently having problems like this with different sellers you really might want to look at the messages you are sending out.

Its not consistenley happening, just this week. I guess it is me and the way I convey myself. I thought I was clear saying I will buy it, where and when do you want to meet? Oh well I am not going to bash anyone, I am glad their guns sold and they got the money. I am just feeling sorry for myself cause I wanted them.........

You shoulda exchanged numbers after the 1st pm. Business is better conducted on the phone (if FTF isn't immediately possible). Sorry to hear that bro, good luck to you on the next one.

And if you are able to respond before Ivan That dude is freaking quick..

But getting back to the OP, yes, like rkt suggested, getting a number to talk to the seller right away will seal the deal better than "I'll take it"

No, you should have included your phone number with the first PMtelling him you'll take it. You never know when and for how long this board will go down. If you include your number right up front telling the seller to call at anytime, you wouldn't be having this problem.

If I am the buyer, I will PM the seller first with a " I will take it" followed by what's your phone number so we can work out the details. If I am the seller, I hope the buyer does the same. I have been lucky enough to have sold two guns in here to two awesome buyers. PM, email, texting isn't as personal so it doesn't seem to seal the deal as much as actual words exchanged over the phone or FTF. But if you said I will take it, the seller should give you some time to reply. When I was selling guns here last, I had tons of I will take it but I stick to my integrity and go with first come first serve and I always reply to them what order they are in for the " I will take it". If deal falls through, next in line.....

Had something similar happen. Guy posted a thread on Friday with a number of firearms as a "feeler". I was interested in one of the shotguns he had. So I sent him a PM asking a question about it, and also if he could send me a pic. Well, he emailed me a pic on Saturday. So everything looked cool, price was right, so I emailed him back (to the same exact email he sent the pics from) and told him I'd take it (this was on Sunday morning). Monday after work, after still not seeing a reply email from him, I checked the for sale section and found his "feeler" thread had turned into a "for sale" thread and the price of the shotgun had been raised some $50 and was already "sold" to Ivan. I was pissed to say the least. When I questioned the guy about it, he said, "oh sorry, I didn't check my email. What do you want me to do about it?" I was even more pissed.

I don't get into a lot of questions - very rare when I don't know if I'll want something and need to ask questions. Very rare if I reply at all to a For Sale ad WITHOUT it being an "I'll Take It". My "I'LL TAKE ITs" are exactly that - no questions other than "how soon can we meet?" That's followed by my name, phone number, and that cash is ready, and if there will be trouble reaching me, that they should call.

The only time I pause for inquiry is if there are no photos of any kind in the ad, and the gun is C&R, militaria, or older. But if I have questions - that's all it is - I don't say I'll Take It nad ask questions about it- when I say I'll Take It, it's a ringing cash registar. If somebody posts it's a Kel-Tec P3AT new in the box or IMBEL stripped receiver never used for assembly... it is what it is, I don't need pics.

                              .
