Two thumbs down J&G gunsmithing Granite bay CA

I went there and did a work form to get my Remington 870 ejector spring replaced.

Came back when they gave me a call saying it was finished. I looked through the gun to see that NOTHING WAS DONE.

Gunsmith notes remarks "inpecting extractor, extractor spring, deburring chamber, deburring ejector assembly, test fired".

I only specified that the ejector spring be replaced.

Guy at the counter serving me said to not question the gunsmith and gave me a stern look. When I asked to see the gunsmith, the guys says he's not here. When I asked if they could do the work, another guy at counter says he'll take a look at it.

The next morning, I get another call to pick it up. I drive all they way back agian to see that the gun has still has not been worked on.

I asked if the gunsmith had worked on it, and same guy says he's busy talking to other people. I told them once more that I needed the ejector spring replaced, I asked if I could talk to the gunsmith so I can point out the work.

    Guy at the counter replied

"You can well wait when the weekend is over for the smith to come back, other that that you aint getting your gun back til you pay"

Highly recommend you stay away from this place.

Wow. Usually the guys behind the counter are pretty cool and way helpful. I can't say anything about The smith. That would leave a bad taste in my mouth to.

Did you get a written work order when you originally dropped off the firearm?

Like when you go to a mechanic and get an estimate it outlines what work will be done and the anticipated cost.
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
      (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

Wrote down contact info on the work form.

I wrote down replace the ejector spring in the area underneath the contact info.

I asked them about price, and one of the guys said, "I'll ask the smith if it's under warranty" and I said great!

          There was no quote.

Is gun smithing a dying art?
Seems like so many complaints these days.
I also have had several issues on several weapons over the last 10 years or so.

Call the sheriff and have them come out. If they won't come out go in and find the most expensive looking thing you can grab and tell them you will give it back when you get your gun. That should get the sheriff there

                  Btw...this is terrible advice.

I have had problems there as well. I wanted to talk about getting a barrel re-chambered or having a chamber insert installed. The guy there apparently only knew how to replace barrels - not what I wanted, that would have defeated the whole purpose. Took him six months to look at it for five minutes and tell me that, too. Another time I went there for some really small part, a screw I think. They gave me a screw and said that'll do. Screw did not fit the hole - NOT EVEN CLOSE. I can't believe anyone considers this adequate workmanship or service.

I've had excellent service going to Maroviov out in Woodland. He gets things done right and in a reasonable time frame. No BS from him, ever.

Thanks for the heads up. I was planning on taking a shotgun barrel there to get some work done. Guess not now.

NEVER take your gun there for any work. They SUCK. I have friends that have used them and they do bad work. Even simple things like install night sights seem to be a challenge. A friend that had night sights installed had to go back. On the first shot, the sight flew off.
