    M1919 legal question ---Resolved.

I'm considering buying an M1919 but they are hesitant to ship with the pistol grip since they are unfamiliar with California laws. Can I point them to the legalese somewhere to clarify? I'm sure this has been covered before but now I can't find the post for some reason. Thanks fellow Calgunners!

sigpic I like to post side views of the guns, if you wanna see what they look like from the front, just come on over and let yourself in...

I can't point to penal code, but I know its legal. Its probably not shoulder fired (unless its an a6...) so its not a rifle. So features like pistol grips don't matter. As long as you only have 10 round belts, you should be gtg.

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will chime in here soon.

The pistol grip is behind the action, not under like AR/AK's.

Sorry, don't know the legalese, I own an A4 and an A2. Never Any any problems.

Thanks guys. Any idea on how to convince them without the legalese?

Never had a problem with my 1919A4 or FN30. Unless you have pre-ban belts stick with linked ammo of 10 rounds.

Besides the non rifle part because it does not have a stock...
Here's the pistol grip definition if that will help convince them.

              978.20 Definitions
              (d) "pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon”
means a grip that allows for a pistol style grasp in which the web of the trigger
hand (between the thumb and index finger) can be placed below the top of the
exposed portion of the trigger while firing.

Thanks Guys. I appreciate the help. Just to keep it at the bottom, here's a link with the legal letter clarifying what constitutes a California legal M1919. http://1919a4.com/showthread.php?175...-weapons-in-CA
