Talk me into a Springfield XDm in 9mm

I always wanted a Springfield XDm full size in 9mm and now have a chance to get one. I would be selling a Glock 17 3rd gen as I'm just tired if it and the fat grip.

Ok, so please talk me into making the change. Thanks

The grip on the Glock and the XD are not that much different.

To me, the Glock is so much fatter and I hate the finger grooves.

If you want the XDm9, I say go for it ... just don't sell the G17.

Have you considered the M&P9? Better ergo than the Glock and XDm IMO. Add the Apex FSS trigger for the M&P and you are GTG!

I would have to sell my Glock 17 and I'm ok with that. It's time for us to divorce. As for the MP, I looked at it hard, really hard, but it's not for me and I just hate S&W all together.

The full size XDm just seems like a good fit for me. Anyone else?

I had one 2 years ago and I didn't like it. I wasn't impressed with its accuracy and the slide wouldn't stay open half the time after emptying a mag

just keep both, it's funny my buddy who has an XD9 wants my glock 17 and when I shot his XD9, i wanted one.. To solve my dilemma, gonna get an XD 9 (and keep my Glock 17, love it as well!) , but yeah the XD 9 is a solid gun!

Just dros'd a xdm 4.5 9mm the other day.... I was able to handle it briefly before I dros'd it and it felt fine....won't really know until I get it out of jail and put some rounds through it before I have a real opinion.

I definitely like the more aggressive grip tezture on it compared to a normal xd...

Also if you don't like the g17 fat grip, maybe try a gen 4 17.... I just picked up one also and now prefer it to my g17 gen3... Gen 4 grip texture is much better also..

I was deciding between G34(longer G17), M&P9, and the XDm9. Kept shooting them until I got a good feel for all of them. Then it came down to the M&P9 and XDm9. The Glock just didn't feel as nice in my hand as the other two. Kept going back and forth between the M&P9 and XDm9. Spent so much money on range time and ammo trying to decide. Then I just gave myself a week to think about it.
Then a friend of mine told me to meet him at the range. His friend had a Gen-4 G17. Really liked it. Then realized I liked it more than the other two. Just to make sure I rented a M&P9 just to make sure. Yup. I was sold. Ordered a Gen-4 G34.
If you haven't tried a Gen-4 you should.

Thanks, but no more Glocks for me. I am Sig guy and just like having another pistol (polymer) to have for fun. Looks like they did everything right on the XDm, except that backstrap safety.

If Glock was not an option and I had to buy a new polymer gun today I would buy the M&P9. XDm as a very close second.

Thing about the XDm is you have to do SSE. Which means added costs over the M&P9.

A friend of mine that has the XDm, M&P, & Glock in multiple sizes.

He prefers the Springfield XD series.

I like Glock 9mms' long reputation and track record for reliability that is well earned (Gen 3s).

M&Ps have earned a pretty decent rep since they came out. Mine runs flawlessly and the trigger is good enough that I'm skipping the Apex kit or trigger job from Bowie (I've shot all 3 side by side), the reset is almost non-existent on my gun.

The XD I shot felt fine.

In the end, they're all just tools. Make sure the one you choose is reliable. Past that, it's just preference.

If it's reliable in every way, what is better for "Sea Lion Squad 7" or "8th Distinguished Regiment Task Force - Epsilon" may not be best for you.

If Glock doesn't work for you, then find a new platform. If you hate S&W, then don't go with them. Springfield is an option.

The double actions like Sig, Beretta, CZ are good.

1911s, though finicky sometimes are amazing guns when running smoothly.

Revolvers are really nice for those that like them.

Keep an open mind. Consistent trigger pull striker fired polymer guns are only one aspect of handguns.
