I have realized the practical benefit to 10 round mags...


...I save A LOT of money on ammo compared to when I used my pre-ban mags.
There were instances when I would empty a magazine in 3.33 minutes(using the 2sec rule) which got expensive real quick.

That's right! You should go bolt-action, or if you really want to save, go to a muzzle loader!
I found that the best way to slow me down is to go shooting with friends. You chat, you argue (my gun is bigger than yours), you look at what others are doing, offer suggestions (because we are all pros), you shoot a bit, get criticized by others, drink coffee, and the cycle goes on...

Provided that you have a non carbine version bolt action, yours IS bigger

I did the math, which I'm not sure if other folks did, and determined you're empting your mag in 200 seconds, with the 2-second rule. So what you're saying is you have a 100rd mag? Gah, you're way too lucky for your own good, you know that?

Personally, I like shooting my 22LR. Very cheap, mag dumps are fine, and life is good. Now if I could just find a way to use one the follower off of one of my existing 30rd mags as a reconditioning part on a really big 22LR magazine... yeah, a guy can dream. Probably wouldn't even be legal WITH deactivating an existing 30rd mag...

I will say that I started buying guns and accessories back in 1993...in the days of the old republic...before the (Fed and SB23)bans...before the dark times...

btw, I think 100rnd drum magazines for Avtomat clones make nice accessories, don't you think?

Bah, wasn't saying you had anything illegal. If you bought it back in '93, it's something to be proud of! Too many folks treat full-cap mags as if they're shady - the only 10rd mags I bring to the range on my AR's, are the ones pinned in place. I've got a gripless that shares a USGI with my SU-16.

I did shoot someone else's 75rd snail-shell drum once, though - it looked pretty.

Hmm, so you're not talking about drums then? Are those the uber-long type that loop all the way to the front, and hook onto your barrel for support? If so... whoa, that's cool!

Oh, wait, looked back and saw you did say drum. That's cool, but the full-loop mag is even cooler. I saw it on a "prototypes that we never put into production" page on a site that I think was kalashnikov.ru (not really sure, but it was a link from world.guns.ru)

Another advantage is that it's easier on the mag springs. I'll bet a lot of us have noticed that the good old Bushmaster 20 round mags limited to 10 are very easy to load. I bet those springs will last forever!

I am desperately trying to look at the bright side.

LOL! I used to go to Coyote point with a single load bolt action .22 and shoot through TWO BRICKS of ammo every time out....more if I brought a friend Bolt actions are NO slower-downer for this guy
