    I haven't trimmed it, but did have a related situation on a CMMG .22 dedicated upper. When I installed their bolt catch adapter into the lower, it would catch if I used the lever, but not on an empty mag. CMMG included a different bolt catch spring that was the same length but fewer winds (weaker), and installing that solved the problem.

      So in theory it should work. I'll keep you posted. I'm trying it out this weekend. If it doesn't work I guess I'm changing to an adjustable gas block and be done with it. It may be the BCG rebounding to quickly for the catch to hold.

        Well for those interested it didn't work. I'm going to change to an adjustable gas block.
