Hmm, let the 416 drain a bit, eh? The submerged shot is impressive though.

Yes, the 417 - but neither are for us mere mortals

I wanted to see the Colt or any DI AR fired while submerged.

You're right in that the select-fire models are not available to civilians, but the semi-auto version of the 416 is.

I'll believe it when I see it. HK's been a real pita on this subject.

You are clearly not aware that "you suck and HK hates you".

I dunno about that test. It felt pretty biased. Anybody notice that the M4 was canted upward when pulled from the water and not allowed the same time to drain? Also, anybody notice that the whole thing is not filmed in one continuous shot? I know HK is a reputable company. I myself have a small HK collection. However, I think any company is more willing to discredit another company when millions of dollars are on the line. I don't doubt the added benefits of piston driven systems, I just feel that this tests is something I'd have to see in real life to believe it.

If this tests was performed by an independant research company not being paid by any of the mfgs, then I'd have more faith in the honesty of testing.

+1, maybe I'm getting cynical at my old age, but it sounds kind of fishy when a manufacturer come out with a test showing how great their product is versus the competition.

The ending frame of the slideshow says "leading trough technology"
Does that mean they recommend these for use in troughs?

You guys don't think this could be possibly relate to the differences between direct impingement and gas-piston systems? HK may be trying to sell rifles here, but I really don't think they are trying to cheat us out of the truth.

Barrels blowing up has to do with water in the barrel.
That's why the HK gun gets drained after coming out of the water and the Colt gun does NOT get drained.
It makes it more dramatic when you blow up your competetions gun on video.

This video disregards the common practice of using a muzzle cap or condom to seal the barrel when going in the water.
