Depends really if your home owner policy covers your firearms. If not, the NRA policy couldn't hurt.

If you are renting, I would surely look to some kind of coverage if not, then a bolted down safe

Check what your homeowner's covers, then find out what additional coverage will cost. It wound up being cheaper for me to add the extra coverage from the NRA, with a lot less hassles. My homeowner's wanted individual appraisals for each firearm, no thank you. NRA coverages only asks about firearms worth more than 2.5k I believe, and appraisals on those worth more than 20k.

That only covers you if they're stolen out of your house, the NRA policy covers them everywhere.

A bolted down safe is something everyone should have anyway. Preferably in a closet where the top and sides cannot be accessed (they're much thinner than the door).

It's free with your NRA membership (up to 2500 I believe) so why not

I just checked out the NRA insurance. Did the online quote. For $20K coverage it is $250 per year. That seems pretty pricey to me.

I think it doubles for a life membership. Good deal if you paid $300 for it.
