PPT from LEO to Civilian HELP??

Hello there I had a question. My cousin is a LEO and just purchased an off roster Colt 38 Super. I have been looking for one for a long time as a gift for my father. I have offered him to buy it since Fathers day is coming up and he alrady owns the firearm however he and I are not sure what are the laws of PPT between LEO and civilian since he just purchased the firearm about 2 weeks ago. At this point he is not sure if he wants to sale it but he also is hessitant due to it being a new firearm and it is not a "roster gun" We are novice, any help or input is appreciated

Yes, your LEO cousin can sell you an off roster handgun via PPT. This may change next year, but for now it's still legal to do so.

Nothing against the law on LEO to PPT transfer, the only issue is if the weapon itself is forbidden for non LEO to possess (registered assault weapons as an example).

It's not against the law to possess off-roster firearms (yet). So LEO to PPT transfer of an off roster firearm is wholly legal.

ONLY limitation that some LEO's get hit for is exceeding the dealer transaction limit (over 6 sales transactions / year for non dealers on handguns).
