    Weaponoutfitters.com - Bad experience

Not sure what the deal is with Weaponoutfitters.com, but wanted to share a bad experience I recently had with them and vent a little as these guys screwed up my holiday weekend shooting plans.

On 5/16 I placed an order for 5 items, all of which were in stock. On 5/17, my order status changed to shipped and I was given a tracking number. On 5/23, (a full week later) I checked the tracking number for a current status and got the dreaded "a label has been created" message indicating my package still hadn't actually shipped.

So, I gave it one more day and when things still hadn't changed I sent them a message asking for an update. Now in this message I indicated I had a timing issue on one of the parts and really needed it by this weekend and I asked them specifically to let me know if it wasn't going to arrive in time so that I could make other arrangements. I got no response.

However, late that same day the package was delivered to their local USPS office facility for shipment. A coincidence? Maybe. I think though, that they followed up on my communication, realized that they had screwed up, didn't want to lose a sale by letting me know so that I could make other arrangements, and instead they just quietly shipped the order with no response to my message.

If you want to run a successful internet business, here are some things you probably shouldn't do:
    • Don't tell a customer something has shipped when it hasn't
    • Don't fail to ship an in stock order for a week or more without notifying customers in advance of possible delays
    • Don't fail to respond to customer communications, especially when they indicate they have an urgent issue and just need an update so that other arrangements can be made.

I know, I know, cool "starry bra" Anyway, there are too many good companies out there to waste my time with shops that don't have it together. I won't be doing business with these guys again and I thought I would share my experience for those who would rather not waste their time too.

I had a problem as well.. tried to order a SOB sling.. their checkout system kept crapping out half way through. Then I tried sending them an email though thier system.. didn't work. Obviously they were having software issues. I posted about the problem in thier thread here. It was very frustrating not being able to spend money. lol

But.. after a couple of days someone from there emailed me and let me just tell they what I want and paypal them the funds.. was it a bit of a hokey way for a company to complete a sale? Yea, but it got the job done and my product showed up quickly. Still, it was a ton of effort just to buy a sling.

Would I try them again? Yea, but one more strike and they're out.. too many other quality vendors out there.

I have been seeing a tremendous amount of vendors with shipping issues, and not just mom and pop shops but the biggies too.

I am not sure if it's their web processing back end, their shipping software or just f-ups on the part of the shipper, but it looks as if in an effort to cut shipping costs, a package can be dealt to multiple carriers before it gets to your door.

I ordered an 8oz bottle of Hoppes from Bass Pro Shops with my NRA gift card on the 10th and it still has not arrived. Their friendly customer service lady told me there looked to be a problem between fedex group and the hand off to USPS.

I ordered 500 rounds from Freedom Munitions on the 10th as well and it still had not shipped up to yesterday. Had to email multiple people and they finally got it out yesterday, with an apology.

It might just be a sign on the times.

Sorry about your experience, but I've had nothing but good experiences with weapon outfitters...I've bought several items from them and sometimes have had the item reach me before the charges show up on my credit card....and this is with the free shipping option.

Anytime you order over the net don't expect it to arrive by your deadline. If you do order from a local or get your feelings hurt.

Your call didn't speed things up. I've had the same thing happen via Amazon and Walmart.

For the record, everyone's issues are urgent. Because it's urgent to you doesn't make it urgent to the rest of the world.

All my 5 orders with them was flawless for the past two years. Hopefully they will see this thread and make good. Will continue to use them because their prices are more than fair.

It would be one thing if I had waited until the last minute to order, but I didn't, I ordered with what should have been plenty of time to spare. It also wouldn't have been a big deal if they hadn't falsely updated my status to shipped the day after I ordered it. If it had actually shipped when they said it did, it would have arrived with plenty of time to spare. Silly me I assumed that shipped actually meant shipped.

Actually, I think that if it hadn't been for the message I sent them, my package still wouldn't have shipped even now.

Well considering it wasn't an urgent need when I ordered it because I ordered it with plenty of time to spare, and considering it also wouldn't have been an urgent need if they had communicated with me in any way so that I could have made other arrangements, I'm going to still put the blame on them.

Sorry to hear you plans were foiled. What did you order that did not get here?

A lowpro gas block was the critical part of the order. It was the last part needed for an AR build I had been planning to test out today. Due to ammo prices and my low ammo stocks I haven't been shooting in quite a while and this was my excuse to get out. Also, due to some work and family issues it's been a while since I've had a free day to shoot anyway, so I was looking forward to getting out more than usual. Oh well, stuff happens and there will certainly be other opportunities in the future.

More than anything, I just wanted to let calgunners know of the poor service and communication I received form Weaponoutfitters so that they can make an informed choice when considering them in the future. All companies will occasionally make mistakes in shipping, inventory, etc, but to me, communication is key. I have had zero communication from them at any point, including in response to my message, and this is what I find most telling.

Just cruious what email address you used to contact them....

Only time I had to email them about something I used the roy@weaponoutfitters.com and I had sent the email at 3am in the morning and he responded back to me 10 minutes later.... Not sure if he is owner but he was very helpful.

Followed this instruction from their industry thread at 1r15.com

99.9% of everything I ever order from Amazon arrives by the deadline, so I have grown to expect it. That's why I quite often shop on Amazon for gun-related stuff, because I know if Amazon ships it I'll have it in my hand in short order and according to my schedule. Same for some other businesses which make it a point to be prompt, like SKDTAC, for example. So...if your business is incapable of responding to my urgency to buy, you should know that you've just lost $$$ to a business that can.
