So earlier I posted that I was a little melancholy about not being able to hit anything with my two .22 handguns, but I feel that my luck has changed as of about 2hrs ago.
So I am doing my calculus review and for about 5min I keep hearing my dog whining and my sister keeps telling him to be quiet. I am curious as to what he is whining at since it always means a cat, coyote or other small animal so I get my bow ready. I head out there and there is a juvenile squirrel just munching on something behind one of the lights near my grill. Put the arrow through both lungs, hasta la pasta.
Then, Amanda asks me to take a walk with her down my street, so I tucked my tomahawk in my belt and my archery setup (pocket quiver, 3 arrows, release and bow) and I walk down. The first house we pass there is a crow with a broken leg floundering around. Ask the neighbor (mowing the lawn) if I can dispatch it, he approves, silencio por siempre. I threw him in the next trash can.
Walk down a little further, there is ANOTHER juvenile squirrel and he is just dumb enough to hang out at the entrance to his giant 2' wide squirrel hole. He got pinwheeled and buried.
Walk to the end of my road to a vacant field and Amanda asked to try out my bow on some bales of hay. She did OK, but the bow isn't set to her dimensions and I had to help her pull it back. One arrow skipped about 100yds and stuck in the dirt, hahaha.
On the way back to my house, a rabbit jumps out of the brush, a la Rambo, sees me and jumps right back. I take off my sandals and walk on the road and draw a bead on his head, but I missed by a hare (pun intended) and he went off up a small hill. I recovered my arrow and then shot him at around 15 yards through the back.
For all those probably wondering how I can walk around with a bow and nail everything with a heartbeat (I can sense the giggles here) it is because I live on a private road in an area with tons of property. Also, while it may seem to some people that I am killing needlessly since I am not eating them (the vermin in this area have a pretty high rate of tularemia, far higher than the official reported average) these animals have been really destructive to said road and my yard as well and they need to be exterminated. You should see the network of tunnels in my back yard due to those little bastards. Besides, it is waaay fun.
Anyways, off to have some gnocchi. Until next time....
