Do you do it like a bossman should?

I like to sling shot it then turn it sideways to dry fire. Makes me feel straight up gangsta.

One example is older S&W centerfire revolvers with hammer-mounted firing pins. If not cushioned by impact with a primer or snap cap, the firing pin will break under repeated dry firing... guess how I know that. IIRC, this is caused by the firing pin impacting against the firing pin opening in the frame. This, of course, does not apply to the OP's H&K.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

Yup. That will also make the "invisible" bullet path curve.

Everyone knows that if you want the bullet to curve, you have swing your arm across your body horizontally. Weren't you paying attention at the movies?

I've dry-fired my HKs numerous times---bought several that were lightly used---who knows how many times they were dry-fired? All work 100%---couldn't have done much harm...
Note that I will not dry-fire rimfires if I can help it, but it doesn't seem to harm either my 10-22s or Nylon 66. I also try and avoid dry-firing Colt SAAs because of their semi-fixed firing pin.

I dry fire any of my pistols and centerfire rifles BUT NOT RIMFIRE Pistols and Rifles to practice my trigger control.

Most if not all competitive shooters dry fire more than shooting @ the range.

As a courtesy to the onwer, I always asked if he let me dry fire his centerfire pistol or rifle
