    What to do?

    Tonights dumb question.
Ok, The problem I'm having is that when I was at I.A I did the worse thing you can do "Hold a Rifle" and say this is what I need, But to buy it I would need to sell some weapons that I have had for years, There not fancy or anything special just field guns and a few military. Possibly 9 or 10 weapons most are the under $150,00 price. all 3 pistols need to be FTF transfer, The rifles/shotguns are over 50yrs old so just FTF. I just want to get the AR or a Rem Varmit for fun.
The question is whould you sale your guns you no longer use for another gun? I have ran out of room in the safe.

I personally don't like to sell any of the guns that I have, however, if you must do that to get that new rifle that you want, by all means go for it. Especially if you are running out of room in the safes. When I see a new gun/rifle that I want, I place myself on Buying ammo restriction and use that money to fund that new weapon.

Go over to Costco, they have some cheap gun safes. Problem solved.

In contrast to the others here I would not sell off any, I have only sold two of my guns in my life (one was a broken down 22 revolver) , and I still have remorse about letting them go to this day, and that was over 25 yrs ago!
I can't even begin to explain my reasons or thought processes here, I just cannot bring myself to sell any of 'em ever again. My grandson will become the recipient of a whole lot of ordinance one day in the future, and I'll let him deal with keeping them or selling them off, whatever he chooses....I just can't do it!

          its an obsession!

It's time to buy another safe.
The couple of hundreds you get from selling some of your firearms is not worth the remorse you'll feel later on.

I've never sold a firearm without regretting it later.

I used to be one of those people who would NEVER sell a firearm. I would eat scrimp on food for months to keep my firearms. Then I got married and that all changed.

My new personaly philosophy is never sell anything you can't replace. That Ruger 10/22 can be replaced, your dad's Savage 22 from when he was a kid can't. You may shoot the hell out of your Ruger 10/22 and find it funner and more appealing than the Savage, but when it comes down to you HAVE to sell one then the Ruger should go. If you have a safe full of Mosin-Nagants and Mausers that you don't shoot, then by all means get rid of them. Now if they were passed down by family members, were your first gun, out of production and/or rare, etc then you might want to reconsider letting them go.

If you don't use them. Sell only the ones that can be replaced. If you have remorse you can buy them again.
If you have plenty of money don't sell and buy another safe & fill that safe up too.

If you don't use them, and you don't keep them for some sort of historical, collectible, or sentimental reasons, sell them.

If you are not pressured to sell, that is the best time to sell- you'll get more money for them.

Never sell unless it's to upgrade. If it's a gift or has personal value, don't sell it. If it's off the shelf and can be replace easily, sell it...

I have always said I would not sell a guitar or gun.

Well I have sold a few guns now. First got into sport I bought a few Glocks. Since then I have gotten the 1911 bug. That being said I can always replace a Glock. What people said about being able to replace it. If you can't then think twice before selling.

But if something just does not turn you on. Does not fit your collection "odd caliber etc" no reason to hold on to it. Sell it. With ammo as expensive as it is I am not going to shoot a gun unless I really like and enjoy it.
