So I bought a Glock from ProForce as a security professional, but I just called in today to ask if they had another Glock I was looking for and they said that in order to be able to purchase, I need to be currently employed by a security agency... I never had this problem before... Is this a new rule? Anyone else ever run into this problem?

That's not correct.
They may be referring to your guard card/open firearms permits, which would exempt you from the HSC card and test. You do not need to be employed with a security agency to purchase any CA legal Glock.
The other thing they may be referring to is blue label, a special program from Glock to provide first responders with Glocks at a discounted price. With your guard credentials you'd be eligible for that as well.
EDIT: also, I'm not sure if you're looking for an off-roster Glock ie: gen4. In which case you would need to have law enforcement credentials to purchase from a dealer... They may be confused and think you're looking for an off roster gun.Last edited by send it_hit; 05-13-2013, 7:13 PM. -
Pro Force only sells to people in certain types if employment. Not open to the general public and they can choose to set said rule as the they see fit. That's not correct.

Yeah trust me I specifically said "I have a guard card and an exposed firearm permit. I am in the middle of a career transition. Is it still not okay?" He said "you need to be employed by a security agency to be considered a security professional" I was stunned... Last time I bought it from there I didn't have any problems... And that was like a month and a half ago... Ill try calling again and hope I get a different guy on the phone.Fully Custom AR for Sale: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=971796Comment

Huh. That's interesting... I have no experience with the shop. I was speaking purely from the legal standpoint, but you're right. Their shop, their rules. An interesting dynamic for a shop though. I know of some shops here in the bay area that only do LEO sales, but none that are exclusive to security and LE.Comment

I HOPE NOT!!!
Well hopefully a law enforcement agency hires me already and I don't have to worry about any of this anymore
(Of course that's not even near my main reason I want to be an LEO)

hang in there man. my brother just graduated from SFPD academy on May 3rd. He's been trying really hard since he was 20... He's 27 now. It might take awhile, but be persistent. It's possible, you just have to want it. Good luck!Comment

Hey thanks brother! that really means a lot. I will stay persistent and do all that I can do. Longer it takes, the longer I have to get into tip-top shape and further my education

Proforce had a 2 hour wait and line out the door for the last 3 months of Police and Sheriffs trying to get in there and buy guns. I am not surprised that they wouldn't do any favors for a "Security Professional" because they were't doing any favors for anybody. No matter how long the line was, the staff move slow as molasses and aren't impressed

I have to admit it was worth the wait. On the same day I bought a M&P 15 Sport, a Windham weaponry AR, and a Ruger 10/22 with a couple of BX 25x2 magazines. It was right around 2K out the door for everything. This was in the height of the panic too.Comment

So does anyone have a direct answer on being able to purchase a glock at their advertised prices with guard card?- Glock 19 OD

- Walther PPS M2
- Smith and Wesson M&P 2.0
- CZ P10c Optics Ready
