Gun Prices from 1974!!!!! (PIC HEAVY)

Im over at my parents house today and I find on the coffee table a copy of "Gun Digest" from 1974 that he picked up at a garage sell earlier in the week.im browsing through it and cant belive the prices of the guns!! Especially for an AR, 1911, and especially a PYTHON!! i snapped some pics on my phone so i wont have to wish I was born in another time!

$224.95 in 2013 dollars would be just over 1k$ today. If only I could time travel.

Those prices sound great, but its all relative to the current economy. When an average blue collar job was bringing home $200-250 a week, those were comparable to today's $1200 AR's.

Not when I get my time machine working that will be another story.

Ive got a shooters Bible fron 1980...prices are very close to your 1974 prices. I remember my brother buying a new Colt AR15 in 1974 for $239 and a Colt Trooper for $139...Cheap bas%@#d wouldnt thro down the extra hundred for a python.. I remember he made $5.65 an hour as a welder back then.

If I ever get around to makin' a real life Flux Capacitor, i'll attach it to something with more trunk space then a Delorean. I don't think i'd make takeoff weight with all the guns I'd take Back to the Future.

Yeah back then was nice but the paychecks where not so cool. An AR for less the $500.....seems like a dream .

I just try and remember that my earning power in 197x was a lot less than it is today.

I still get tickled when I think about ordering guns via a Sears & Roebuck catalog.

I'd of taken a nickel-plated 1911 for $145. It'd of been a year's worth of chores, allowance, and then some to pay for it, but at age 7, I'd of been the coolest second grader in my school!!!
