Les Baer recoil buffer

Disassemble the gun to clean and the recoil buffer crumbled into tiny little pieces. Do I need to replace it?

You don't need it but I doubt you'll feel a difference.
How many rounds down the pipe?

Less than 200 rounds down range.

Wow and it completely disintegrated? Where do you store the gun? That may be the culprit.

Don't replace it, it will actually run better with the lengthened available slide travel

Had it for 15 years, just don't shoot it much.
It was stored in a gun safe.

On a 1911? It shouldn't have come with it- I don't think Les Baer uses the things at the factory.

Run it without it, and see your reliability improve All those little buffers do is cause problems.

Yeah, I didn't think LB used buffers either.

My Les Baer doesn't use them.

But...I have another 1911 that does. You should change them periodically as oil and grit will tend to degrade them.

Some 1911s just don't like recoil buffers, but yes they should be replaced with normal wear and tear anyway

Both my LB's came with them, but I bought mine probably 10 years ago.

Les Baers buffers are soft. If you must run one Wilson's are much stronger. They are not needed at all and I would never run one in a duty gun. I run one in my Baer TRS only because it has a high round count and the frame is getting battered. Damn, I love that gun.
