    Transfer question

Hello, I'm asking on behalf for a buddy. His grandfather recently passed on and has several fire arms he left him. How would he go about getting them transferred to his name?

    Thanks

Presuming the guns have been distributed to him by the executor or the court through probate, for all the handguns he must file this form with the state: http://oag.ca.gov/sites/all/files/pd...rms/oplaw.pdf? (all handguns on one form, one $19 fee)

Until Jan 1, 2014, he need do nothing about any long guns.

However - never can tell about grandfathers - if by chance any of the long guns might be 'assault weapons', he cannot keep it/them in CA. PC 30915.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!
