Drove by at 8:30 am no one in line. Got an old 22 wrf manhattan arms broken revolver out of safe and old 22 with bore shot out and went back and in and out in 10 minutes with 200 bucks in Ralphs cards. The leos working event said had been slow no lines. No high end guns turned in to speak of.

I went to a community meeting at the Van Nuys PD on Thursday and they mentioned this. I asked if they were allowed to cherry pick from what was turned in and they dejectedly said no. Also asked if I could set up before the line and counter offer. One said "I don't see why not." Unfortunately I have to proctor for SATs today.

Where would I find out when the next gun buy backs are so I can setup my table and hope for deals?

I have an old S&W .38 that I inherited with a broken frame. Cracked under the barrel.
I'd considered turning in the frame this weekend for $100, but I hate to support gun buy-ups even to get $100 for something that (I think) has no value.

No, the city has a slush fund to buy gift cards. If they offered cash, they'd have better turn-outs.

The only thing different this years was filling out anonymous card asking info on where you heard about buyback/ worthwhile in your opinion/ etc. They take firearms from back of vehicle verify type and quantity hand you gift cards and you drive away.

Guys... list your project guns for sale before taking them to buybacks.

There are guys like me who are scrounging for cheap parts to save other guns or. Viable projects.

Some of us keep a stash of cheap but functional and reliable guns to give to new shooters to get them into the fold.

Wonder if a boycott of Ralphs for being associated with the buy back program would do anything? Just like all the pension funds that sold their interests in gun manufacturers? Ah either way, I think it would be great if someone set up a booth with counter offers at one of these.

I am willing to bet that Ralph's is aware of the situation, and then discounts the gift-card purchase by the city knowing for what they are intended.

In seeing that Ralph's was contributing to this BS starting a few years ago, I DID stop buying at Ralph's first time I heard of it - entirely. Until then, I EXCLUSIVELY shopped at Ralph's for ALL groceries in one shot, merely because I don't see the savings if I have to spend time store-hopping to save a few cent's worth. I hate shopping, buy a lot at one time, and stock a big freezer.

BUT NO MORE RALPH'S EVER AGAIN!! Seriously. I haven't stepped foot in a Ralph's in at least 3 years, but that was once the ONLY grocery store I would patronize.
