    Shooting area in Temecula

I'm not from around the Temecula area nor am I familiar with it, but I am going shooting down there soon and need to know what areas are good for that. I am looking for a place to be able to shoot pistols and rifles. Indoor or outdoor, it doesn't matter. Even just on BLM land or in the open desert. Any ideas?

A lot of that BLM land is no shooting due to county ordinances.

Bee Canyon isn't too far away, but with the "red flag" alerts, you can't shoot when fire danger is high. Bee canyon has its own info thread in the places to shoot forum.

The closest public non range/blm land is off Nicholas rd east of the 15 fwy. Be careful, because there is non blm land adjacent & unmarked that people have used for shooting. I have the blm maps @ my office. I can take a picture & post it or send it to u.

Rainbow is just south of Temecula. I've seen the range but not shot there.

really? could you provide more info on this? i was under the impression that unincorporated BLM land out there was G2G.

(not trying to be an a$shat, just seriously concerned since i head out there a lot)
If you suck with irons you will suck with optics. The difference is the aimpoint will allow you to suck faster and a scope will give you a closer look at how much you suck.

You will need to check the county shooting map. Most of Western Riverside County is closed to target shooting. BLM doesn't care, but the county does. Overlapping jurisdictions, and you have to go with the most restrictive.

There used to be a link to the map by I can't seem to find it.

Rainbow Shooting Club is nearby, but it is members only.

I'm a member of Rainbow and highly recommend it. For $170 for the first year and $140 renewal it easily pays for itself. Outdoors, any legal ammo allowed and everyone there is really laid back.

I'm a member at Rainbow also. Nothing fancy, but I like it. Open 365 from 9am till 6 pm or sunset, whichever comes first.

Rainbow also requires you to join the NRA, correct?

Dissapointing. Headed down there at the end of the month most likely and was tempted to hit some BLM. Have to try to find the map Ron mentioned.

Rainbow Range is pretty nice. Lately there's been hardly anyone there when I go. At least 3 times I was the only person there, but I normally go during the week. I'd never go there on a weekend.
Dang! It's $20 now? It was only $10/guest a year ago. It's been a while since I brought anyone one in.
