    Finding a gunsmith concern

How do you know that a "suppose" gunsmith on calguns forums simply doesnt take your gun and run away with it?

What happens if he holds your gun "hostage" by charging a ridiculous price for his work?

In other words, how do you make sure a suppose gunsmith is legit?

Ask other members. Ask the price ahead of time. If he has many positive feedback, he may be a good one. Maybe???

Every good gunsmith has references. If he doesn't want to provide them to you, they're probably not good references.

"(experts), of course, have long recognized the .45 as possessing killing power completely out of proportion to the scientific reality of its cross-sectional area, sectional density and available kinetic energy." --G&S online--

If you can leave a firearm with a gunsmith, they have an FFL.
If they steal it, call the police. They know who he is since he has an ffl.

Any smith should tell you the cost up front for the services you want.

Tell people here what work you want done on what firearm, and where you're located, members will recommend smiths in your area they have experience with.

Get a written receipt and a written estimate, and take photos of your firearm before turning it over.

As another said above, a reputable gunsmith has references and is usually known by other people, so do some google research prior to giving up your firearm.
