    Is this a 9mm AR?

Check out what looks like a 9mm carbine being held by the officer on the right - never seen one of those before

Yes. It's a Colt SMG. Notice the 10 inch barrel, 9mm stick mag, and fixed carry handle.

        I'd prefer one in 45acp

There are a bunch of manufacturers of 9mm AR's. You can select the one you like best.

I'm leaning towards 45. Mag looks a bit thicker

Competition is where you find out you're slow, can't see well, are not accurate, have poor gun handling, can't visualize, have equipment that doesn't work and either accept it OR DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Just right carbine makes some nice 9mm and 45 ACP carbines that are CA legal.

This is the converted one. Was originally a Colt semi-9mm. The Manufacturer's box on the form 3 lists Colt so it will always be a Colt. Other conversions usually have the company that did the conversion stamped on the receiver and listed in the manufacturer box on the form 3/4.

Everyone in my family enjoys our 9mm carbines, but then again we love to shoot. Both have run 100% since day one.
