Any one know about TC Contender/Encore

I need some help to Identify a TC frame the tag said it was an Encore but the shop said it was a Contender, the only mark on it is the serial number.
What do I look for?????? I looked up S.N. but that just tells me when it was made not what it is. Thanks for any help.

    New Contender Rounded shape

    New Encore V shape

Notice the different contour/profile at the top of the frame.

Old contenders have flat frame sides (not contoured) are engraved on each side of the frame.

    Hope this helps

Thank you Criss that's just what I was looking for, now I need to go back and look again. The serial # on it would put it around 1990 for the Contender and
around 1999 for the Encore. I'll let you know what I found.

I'm a big T/C fan. The Encore is a major overkill unless you like shooting a 300 Win Mag in a handgun. If you buy a Contender, buy an earlier model made just before the G2 Contenders. Blue or stainless is good but the G2s just are not as nice as the older models. The new trigger safety mechanism and the trigger just aren't as good. I own two SS Contenders and one G2.

Go to the Mike Bellm website. He is everything TC Contender and Encore. He's in Oregon. I got parts from him to do both my Encore triggers. Smooth as butter. Oversized pins are good also to tighten the action to the barrel assy. Bellm has all the info on his sight.

I'm fortunate to own an early 4 digit SN contender. Pops bought it in about 1968. Although Ive got several barrels, the 14" 30-30 is my fav. Buy one ,you'll love it.
