I keep hearing stories of guys having there AR's taken from them at ranges by Police. They were built from OLL and i do not know if the magazines were removable. I was told unless the mag well was sealed you could get in trouble. I don't want to lose this nice gun i built. Has anyone heard anything? Should i be worried about it? I would like to take it out to Orasco ridge but I don't want to get hassled by the rangers.

This sealed magazine and confiscation is BS spread by the DOJ and dealers who are threatened by the DOJ. There aren't any confiscations. I believe if LE confiscates something they are supposed to give you a receipt, if criminal charges are filed against someone for possession of an AW there will be public records. What I am trying to say is that if ARs are illegal or they are confiscated we would know.
Law enforcement (LE) can confiscate your toaster if they want to. Doesn't mean they will keep it, it doesn't mean your toaster was illegal, and it doesn't mean you will convicted of a crime. LE doesn't write the law or interpret it, they enforce it. Deciding if the item is legal or filing criminal charges it done by someone else, not LE.Comment

you guys need to chill. there is evidence of people having their rifles taken all over the forum. i am one of those people. care to ask any questions or do you still think its just all 'bs?'?
FFLs being harassed, individual members being arrested, etc. albiet not as much as people would like to think, but they are still in existance. so yes, there are repercussions to owning a legal rifle. live with it or move out of the state!Last edited by Ballistic043; 05-03-2008, 3:34 PM.Comment

There is risk in everything. black Americans risked jail and worse to achieve the rights that the law said they should already have. We also risk being jailed by those who would ignore the law because of their own prejudices or for political gain by appeasing others with those prejudices. If we give in to this rather than fight it, than things will become far worse, and I would be ashamed if I left such a world to my future children.I do not provide legal services or practice law (yet).

I know i'll get mine back if its ever taken... it doesn't have a slot wide enough for doughnuts to be top loaded into it
- If my toaster ever gets impounded...I'd better get all the crumbs inside of it back when it's released.... I been hoarding them up for years now
Seriously though- there is a tremendous level of confusion regarding even gun related items such as hi-cap mags.... I have a rookie LEO cousin ( about 4 weeks on the job) that argued with me just days ago that any mag over 10 rds " IS ILLEGAL [for civilian use / poss.] PERIOD."
Bottom line is this: He was riding a tricycle when many of us were learning the shooting sports, and had never fired a gun in his life untill POST; He did not know what caliber his issue was, untill I told him, and he is the guy that will determine on the streets what an AW is; It discomforts me a little to be honest....Last edited by silverbenz; 05-03-2008, 6:17 PM.Join the Navy
