    Auto Ordnance Thompson Semi

I have been given a older Auto Ordnance Thompson Semi. It is the deluxe 1927 with detachable stock, A drum mag and some 30 rd mags. It is in one of those FBI hard cases.

The question is as it is currently in AZ, to sell in CA.can I make it Cal legal and bring it in or too much hassle

I am going to sell it anyway. It is unfired. What is its current value??

    Any suggestions anyone

Leave it in AZ, Take it to Spragues in Yuma and they'll give you $2000.

Can't bring the 30 and 50 round mags into CA

It has a pistol grip, right? If so, no good in CA

Give it to my sister-in-law in Missouri.

Seriously, you would have to turn it into a fixed mag gun by installing a magazine release shroud device, so you can't swap mags without using a tool. Even then, you cannot attach a mag that can hold over ten rounds.

Easier to sell it in AZ. Bringing it to CA is a big hassle.

It doesn't matter how scary, ugly, uncomfortable, or inconvenient self defense can be. Like it or not, you will never, ever be relieved of your duty and responsibility to defend your life, your family, your country and your freedom.

How much ammo do I need? Enough to last me the rest of my life, and then lot more for later.

Yes, I was afraid of that. Gun is in Erinburg near Blythe on the border at In Laws.

I guess I will sell there in AZ at one of the big gun shows. What is the going price on these.

              X2 on the pictures
You can go to GunBroker to price check
              What year of production?
and or serial number digits? (feel free to PM me)

Cant imagine Spragues in Yuma spending 2K on one when New IB ones can be had for dealer cost of 1k or less.

You were given an unfired AO Thompson? Are they giving away anymore?

It would be a shame to sell; but if you have no other option...

What was the gifting situation? Would immediate sell offend the gift giver?

My dad gave me a .22 rifle, among many other firearms. I didn't shoot it, and ended up selling it (actually, I traded it for living room furniture). I told him about it in passing, and he was clearly a bit upset in a quiet way. I eventually bought it back from the guy that had it. He abused it a little, didn't clean it, and broke the trigger guard. I paid twice what it was worth new.

Turns out, my dad bought this rifle when I was born, as a way to teach himself to shoot with a scope (he hunted with iron sights). He didn't tell me this when he gave it to me.

I was given the gun as I helped the family out with a car and some $$$$.

They inherited the gun from in laws. I will load some pictures and the serial number tomorrow.
