    real murder/gun stats

some people keep asking about real gun figures...

just click around these charts for real answers.

make sure you interrupt and correct anyone who says something stupid like, 100,000 assault weapons/ rifle deaths every year in the US...

    love this fact...

    CA= total murder 1,790 / firearm = 1,220 / handgun = 866 / rifle = 45 / shotgun = 50 / unknown firearm = 259 / knife edged weapon = 261 / other weapon = 208 / fist feet =101

so DiFi wants to ban AWs for what reason again? 45 people...why isnt she banning knives or feet?

so shotguns kill more people than rifles? no wonder they want us to use them instead. theyre 11% deadlier.
Just a libertarian guy in a Leftist Authoritarian state.

The chart says "murder" does that mean suicide and justifiable homocide are not included in these stats? I thought usually FBIs stats didn't differentiate.

Uniformed crime report does show "justifiable" homicides seperately, but not clear if those totals are included in homicdes as well. CDC tracks intentional (suicide and homicide) and unintentional ("accidents"), but doesn't make the distinction between murder and justifiable homicide.

The FBI has several different charts covering different parameters, the one linked in the OP is the murder by weapon by state. There are several other charts available, breaking down the data by race, gender, age, offender/victim relationships, etc. You can find an overview here with links to the charts.

The justifiable homicide by weapon by private citizen chart is can be seen here. I believe they are separate. We know Suicide isn't included in the murder stats because the numbers would be quite higher (some 18,000 people commit suicide with guns in the US according to the CDC).

And it's absurd to think that they want to target "assault weapons" when bare hands kill more than twice as many people in the US per year, while blades kill nearly 4 times as many.

"The fundamental point [against gun control] is this: Do you take away the liberties of all, do you assume the guilt of all, because some people cannot handle that freedom properly? Imagine if you did, how many other freedoms would have to be taken away." - Peter Hitchens.

Thanks for the other links, those help a lot. The reason I tossed these here was to make it easier to get the real numbers out there.

we all know the idiot actors and News reporters lie, but what pisses me off more is when the person they are debating allows them to toss out a number without challenge. This master idiot Peirs Morgan keeps saying something like 100,000 people murdered every year with guns. The only person who challenged him on that was Penn from Penn & Teller, and he didnt challenge the number, only the way he said it.

So when anyone talks about murder numbers and rifles, cut them off cold and tell them...they are talking about 500 people a year TOTAL, even with school shooting and mass murderers. If they cry BS, tell them you can link them the FBI stats right from the FBI website.

If you remove Justified shootings, Suicide and accidents the total number of murders in the US for 2011 was 14,612. Any extremely higher figure is a lie. The 20 year average from what I am seeing is like 18,000.

When we have so many young boys joining the military and going off to war our crime rates go down. They have been steadily going down for 25 years now, even though the population has been going up.

There is some very "big elephants in the room" in that data that you don't hear about in the mainstream media. I wonder why?
