I have bought a few guns there last year and always had good service. They are the last gun shop in West LA. Lets keep them in business.

I did 2 PPT's there within the last year and they went well. Although, I once heard an employee tell 2 guys that they couldn't do a PPT for a stripped lower unless they bought a BB from them.

Second. The idiot kids and people there have issues with BB's, Raddlocks, and anything you don't buy from them AR on a PPT.

          Never again. They're idiots.

I've done quite a few PPTs there as well as new purchases.

The BB on a stripped lower is their version of CYA. I had a long talk with one of the guys there about it and its a legal liability decision they've made. I'm not saying I agree with it but its hardly the worse thing I've encountered at an FFL.

I've bought two firearms there. Never had a problem. It's a busy store and not every employee smiles but they're fine. I've been to worse.

I don't have a problem w/ Rettings. They declined to do a handgun safety test w/ me unless I was buying a handgun right then (?) which is pretty poor customer service imho but other than that they've been pretty good.

I've purchased 3 guns there. Always had a great experience and will definitely shop there again.

You might want to research this further. Can someone under 21 be the seller in a PPT? What happens when the buyer is denied? I am not sure if I as an FFL can release the firearm back to the under 21 year old on a 4473 and if I can't legally deliver it to the seller, then I must turn it over to the police.

You might want to do a little more research before you condemn Rettings.
www.tenpercentfirearms.com was open from 2005 until 2018. I now own Westside Arms.

MBR is a great store. I always love stopping in and browsing when I am in the neighborhood. You never know what you will find. And I have bought a few guns from them over the years. Sorry OP that your relation had a bad experience. But it isn't reason to trash the last great gun store we have.

I've been dealing with MBR since the seventies. I've purchased literally dozens of firearms from them over the years, and countless rounds of ammo. I have always been treated well in that shop.

I know of others who claim not to have had a good experience there, and I believe them, often times the impression we get about a business is from just one individual working there.

It does sound like this situation with the PPT is a bit tricky for an FFL if they were to be in a position where they would have to release the firearm back to the seller. Don't forget, we live in a state where it would appear that the majority of the population would be happy if all FFLs were forced to close their doors. And a DoJ who would be happy to accommodate. CYA is the order of the day for a gun shop owner.

I'm glad Retting's is still there, damn few places remain near me to buy guns and ammo.
