Lots of places out in the desert.

Outdoor range = Clark County Shooting Park
    Indoor range = American Shooters
MG rental range = Battlefield: Vegas

+1 on clark county range. They have great trap/skeet range with shotgun rentals and only $5 for a round of automated clays. The pisto/rifle range is ok, $7 for the day an the longest range is 200yd.

Heres a list of some decent spots, not sure the distance you wanna shoot but theres a few you can hit a mile to a mile and a half easy.

Due to vandalism, the map is no longer freely editable. Check the thread on NevadaShooters.com for instructions on submitting changes.

            +1 on the map link..

I just went out there and met up with a local.. If you look at the map.. its called the hubcap spot...Just go south on las vegas blvd towards CA from LV and there is a road .. mining road I believe.. You will see others out there.. maybe not in AUG.. but pretty much anywhere you see you want to shoot after it turns to gravel is good to go...

August is a great time to shoot because there's so few others out there shooting.

A real shooter wouldn't whine about warm weather.

Are you looking for ranges or BLM spots? Or places to rent machineguns and like that? For the latter there are several ranges in town. Look in the phone book and the in-room magazine in your hotel.

+1 hot weather means you get the desert to yourself, come winter time theres always 2-3 people at most spots.

Well i'll have to make sure to bring some sun screen. I'm not sure if we can bring our guns in the hotel (rio) we already booked.

What do you think the problem would be? Just carry your guns to your room along with the rest of your luggage. I travel with firearms all the time and have never had a problem in a hotel anywhere.

I've never stayed at the Rio but I have carried concealed there; I did not ask persmission.
