Ever go to the range and regret what you rent? We had an instance like that today. We rented a Sig P220 and I expected it to be really good but the sights were VASTLY off. Don't know what the issue was, we had a hard time hitting anywhere near the target. We also tried a CZ75B in 9mm. between me and my two friends it jammed once every ten shots....I didn't think much of it after that. The one firearm we rented that I loved was the HK USC. I've got nothing bad to say about it, its action feels amazing, it shoots great feels great. Stock felt a little tiny for me but otherwise I thought it was an awesome rifle.

Range rental disappointment?

Guns that get constantly used-and-abused and probably get cleaned once-in-a-blue-moon had issues...what a surprise.Comment

My P220 Combat is a great gun. Accurate, no issues. But then I don't wait for it to fail before I clean it. I never drop my guns let alone throw them to the floor. Once saw a range employee do exactly that.
Never rented a gun, never will. Like test driving a car that was returned from a demolition derby. Not an accurate representation."Hence it happened that all the armed prophets conquered, all the unarmed perished." - Niccolo MachiavelliComment

The P220 was super reliable and felt awesome, its just that the sights didnt work right. I had to make some pretty extreme adjustments for the way i was aiming to get close.Comment

I just picked an used older model P220 and cleaned it up today. I've heard nothing but good stuff about them, and having previously owned a SigPro in 9mm, doing IDPA with it using both reloads and factory ammo, it never failed to go bang. But... I have a few Glocks for all my comp shooting now.
I just wonder if either the range guns are tired/dirty, or if you were using reloads from the range, or factory ammo.
I've seen some tired stuff for rent at Iron sights before, so anything is possible.Comment

Every range gun I've tried has been a jam-o-matic, or at least due to my limp wrists
Those things get *NO* love. I think it's a test to see how much abuse they can take.

There are several ranges in SD that have rentals so I can't say much about all of them but I do know that i have NEVER had a problem with rentals at P2k.
As a mater of fact, last month, I saw that Parallax has Beretta's on sale and headed into P2k to rent theirs. It shot great so I purchased the Beretta the next day.
Anyways, I have never had a problem with their rentals so you might want to give them a shot. If you do have a problem with a rental, they will swap it out for another, no charge.Comment

I'd be inclined to say with the Sig P220 (yes at p2k) the sights were jacked up because all three of us shot badly in similar ways. lining up the dot sights didn't seem to do too well for us, there was a bad vertical alignment issue. The ammo used for the Sig was American Eagle .45 ACP. As I said before the Sig fed and ejected 100% of the time, no probs. For the CZ75B we were using S&B. I'm wondering if other CZs jam like that or if we just had the wrong ammo for it. The one rental I absolutely loved though was the HK USC. The stock felt a little tight for me (smallish.) However the way it cycles feels awesome, I never shot anything like it. I like it's trigger, it was pretty accurate and super lightweight and yet it has almost no recoil. Awesome firearm.Comment

Range rentals tend to be beat to hell. Next time you rent one field strip it and inspect the parts, you'll probably change your mind.Oppressors can tyrannize only when they achieve a standing army, an enslaved press, and a disarmed populace. -- James Madison
