Planning to rebarrel a R700 SPS-V. Which smith?

I'm planning on rebarrling a R700 SPS-V. In the SF Bay Area and was thinking about Kendog4570 or AR15barrels. I thought about Spartan Precision, but they're not taking on new work. Who would you recommend? Who would do a better job for a precision rifle?

I have an Obermeyer .30 barrel and a Holland recoil lug coming in next week.

With all of the posts here and with the Cal Percision Rifle Club site, I'd go with AR15barrels but he's also local to me. He's given me many pointers on my SPS-V ideas.

+1 for Randall aka AR15barrels. I haven't seen his work yet, but have read good things. He will be inletting a stock for my R700 really soon. I'm sure he will get more work from me in the future.

M14armorer is very good with this kind of stuff. For obvious reasons ... he used to be a military sniper who used 700-derived weapons himself, and later was trained to be a gun smith for M24/M40 type rifles. I don't think he hangs out at this forum any longer, but you can contact him through either the San Jose Gun Exchange or through Templar Sports in Los Gatos. If you can't find him, contact either bwiese or me, we know where he lives.

Thanks for the input. I'm leaning towards AR15barrels for two reasons: a reputation for good work and walk-in appointments. I don't want to wait months to years for the work to get done. I won't mind the drive and a day's time.

Spartan Precision was on my short list, but he is not taking any new work right now except for full builds. He stated he'll start taking new work next year. I don't want to wait that long.

Randall is amazing, though he has only done AR work for me, he is ridiculously well informed and knows his guns through and through.

He did break his back recently (motorcycle accident), but appears to be up and about again. Do go easy on the guy when you visit.
