All the USGI contractors made them, so that's Sanchez, okay, colt and another one i can't remember, I think. Orolites, they are plastic looking, and I think there were steel versions on the market but I never bothered with them.

^ the early ones are crap. Can't say how the new ones are, I think many of the bugs were worked out. I just dont see a reason to risk buying them to see.

It doesnt matter what magazine was made pre-1999, our law doesnt care. A 1965 magazine is just as illegal as a 2013... and a 1965 magazine is just as legal as a 2013.... date of manufacture doesnt matter. date of ownership and how you acquired it is the only thing that matters.

Thermolds made in Canada with a maple leaf are bad (thermelts). Thermolds made by Master Molder with Zytel are good.

The date the magazine was manufactured has no bearing on its legality in CA. If you break one of these...its illegal. It if acquire one in another way...its legal.

AW laws define what capacity magazine you may use in your firearm.

A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle with a detachable magazine and any one of the banned features must be registered as an AW and is called a RAW (Registered Assault Weapon). You may use any magazine in such a weapon.

A semiautomatic centerfire rifle that has a fixed magazine is LIMITED to a magazine capacity of 10 and under...OR must be a RAW to use a 11+ capacity magazine.

A semiautomatic centerfire rifle without a pistol grip, flare/grenade launcher, telescoping stock, thumb-hole stock or Flash hider, may have a detachable magazine of any capacity.

Brother in law broke my Ramline trying to put it in his Mini14. Still works in the RAW though :-)

The most common 30 rd mags for AR types were military alum. magazines made by Colt (marked Colt AR-15), Adventureline or OK manufacturing---all of the above and some that were just unmarked were probably Vietnam era. These older mags still work fine in most ARs. They would be OK to use in a RAW, but not for bullet-button rifles.
