Narrative:
calguns is my main forum, that being said, I've also a member of:
m14forum, 1911forum, lightfighter, and candlepower
I also regularly visit:
ar15.com, m4carbine.net, rimfirecentral.com, snipershide, and thehighroad
I'm proposing battlerifle.net as a site to unifiy some of the forums out there. It is NOT my intention to steal members or traffic but rather to aggregate information. I was on the AR bandwagon for a while and I already knew quite a bit about the AR so I didn't join ar15.com, but then I was interested in an M1A so I had to join the m14forum. Now my latest obession now is the FAL (which I know very little about but I don't want to join yet another forum).
My point is, I have to join these differeent forums to get information on M14, AR, AK, FAL, etc. I propose one site: battlerifle.net.
Objective:
create an aggregated forum for information sharing and community building (nation wide) centered primarily around battle (service) rifles and pistols. Many of us own more than one type of rifle, AR for example. But let's say you want a Fal or Aug, you'd have to go to falfiles or fnfforums to get info on the fal. Why not have one site for all service rifles?
Needs: admins to help, moderators, and SMEs (subject matter experts), forum software advisors, etc.
I have not yet secured battlerifle.net - but I will if there's enough folks interested in this project (battlerifle.com is being squatted on), I will get the ball rolling (or someone else can).

What it will NOT be, I'm not trying to make money of this but it will need to be self sustaining, additional monies will be used for site improvement, enhancements, features, etc.
monies not consumed by the site will be donated to NRA-ILA, calguns, etc.
and if there are monies left over gift cards or a token of thanks sent out to admins/moderators annually.
Marketing
Shirts, decals, patches, etc. can be designed/made to help advertise the existence of the site and spread the word.
Good idea? Bad? Idiotic? Full Retard?

) related to FAL's it is where you ought to be...similar to arfcom if your questions relate to AR's.
