    Black rifles are scary...

    ...case and point...

I convinced my buddy to pick up an off-list lower.

Me: "They are ok to buy now but any day they will be listed and banned to AW status."

Buddy: "You mean this is a gun that I can't have later? I don't know what it is but I want two."

And so it goes, another off-list member. Here is the funny part. He is married, already has guns, hot rods and a Harley. His wife is into to all this (she even has an old Apache she's fixing up) and has never had a problem with the guns (357, P226, and a few rifles) before. He showed her a picture of what his new purchase would eventually be and she freaked. Didn't like it, thought it was scary, too menacing and meant for drive-by's.

I guess we can thank the media but is an AR-15 really that much scarier than a Kel-Tec or M1A or Mini-14?

I brow-beated one of my co-workers into putting off his hunting rifle purchase and buy an off-lister instead. He was never really into the "black is beautiful" guns until I told him they make great varmint rifles: .223 & .204

Tell her we tried that but, the Gophers are just too hard to hit from a rolling Impala.

I hope they will never get listed. I don't want AW restrictions on my fixed mag rifle. I want to be able to enjoy it like a sportsman and not like felon on parole!
Yes, a fixed may isn't the ideal configuration but in my mind its better than the significant restrictions that come with the AW tag!

Ummm... you do realize that being forced to a "fixed-mag" is a restriction?

Everything is a cost/benefit analysis. When I weigh one restriction (AW) versus the other restriction (fixed mag), my super complicated secret formula tells me that I prefer the fixed mag restriction.
Yes, this is subjective and as a law abiding citizens I don't think we should have ANY restrictions, but this is reality!
                  All the best my friend!
