    5-Round Burst?

I live in the boonies, so I typically hear people shooting every weekend. But I noticed something different today.

Someone is shooting a 5-round burst weapon. I have a neighbor who is a Federal LEO, so I assume it is him.

I know a fair number of weapons have 3 round bursts, but firearms have 5 round bursts?

I suppose it could be someone bump-firing, but of the dozen or two (or more) times I heard it fire, they were absolutely identical, perfect 5-round bursts. At the end of their session they also dumped a mag; I suppose the mag dump could have been bump-fire, but if those other 5-round bursts were bump-fire, then that shooter is talented; each set was perfect and identical.

    So what was it?

Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.

a persons trigger pull is nearly the same every time. So what you are hearing is the same person pulling the trigger on an automatic firearm. It (the pull) simply yields 5 shots every time. When I was instructing that was one of the things I focused on, getting the shooter to decrease the length of time to 3-4 rounds. They always got the hang of it and developed a rhythm to their pulls.

Are you asking what that is or stating that was what he heard?

Youtube will explain if you need info.

I suppose it could have been my neighbor LEO's son, wife or someone else shooting the gun.. but I was just surprised that EVERY set was an identical 5-round burst; not four rounds, not six rounds.

In my experience (admittedly limited) while learning - I and the other students were initially not getting repeatable identical sets of bursts, but instead we were initiating a whole variety of multi-round bursts.

But despite the initial inconstancy it did not take long at all to figure out how to modulate my trigger pull to initiate single, double and triple found bursts.

But I suppose if one can initiate consistent 1,2 or 3 round bursts, why not 5-round bursts.

In any case, it was a cool oddity to hear auto fire today!

Maybe he only has 5 round magazines.
