    Gun Trade Advice?

Okay, I am thinking of trading my home built AR15 for an AK47, but I need advice on what you guys think are the relative values.

    Here's the background details:
My AR is a .223/5.56 Stag 2H upper (16" barrel, iron sights) on a Yankee Hill multi caliber lower. I put a DPMS parts kit in the lower, with an adjustable stock. Bullet button on it, of course.

I've put about 600 round through it and kept it clean. No real signs of wear like scratches or anything.

Total cost of the build at the time was right around $1000.

Also, at the time, a Century Arms WASR AK47 cost about $650 new.

    My questions:
    1. Would it be reasonable in today's market to want to trade my AR15 for a similar condition WASR AK47 and want $300 back on top?

    2. Would it be reasonable in today's market to trade my AR for a similar condition but better quality Arsenal AK47 as a straight across trade?

Your thoughts and advice are desired.

Of course, all trades would be legally done through an FFL.

I'd say but trades are fair as long all rifles are in good working condition. I wouldn't worry too much about the cosmetics or slanted sights in the WASR, which seems to be their biggest negative.

Have you ever posted anything for sale on these forums? Everyone wants a "come up" and they offer you ridiculous trades. I'd sell your AR style rifle and then use that cash to buy whatever your little heart desires. Unfortunately both of the rifles hou speak of are in high demand so it will make things a bit more interesting to say the least. Good luck and dont take any low ball offers personally.

Hard one. I wouldnt do the trade myself unless I had another AR15 and even then I would sell off all the parts except the lower then buy an AK.

          #1- Yes
#2- Maybe. The devil is in the details on this deal.

              Sell the AR

Buy an AK parts kit, receiver flat and other related parts, find someone to build that sucker for you.
