    Theoretical question?

Inspired by a recently locked thread with legal issues.
I just wanna get this 100% clear in my own mind.
Say you have a semi automatic sporting rifle with a 10 round fixed magazine.
Said rifle has a side folding stock, which, when folded gives the rifle an overall length of 31.5 inches. Almost 41 inch total length with stock in deployed position. OAL is the key factor, and not folding stock correct? Is this a legal rifle to own in sunny Kaliforniastan?
I did not notice a reference to actual overall length of rifle in above referenced thread, only potential legal issues due to the fact that the stock now was a folder due to LGS hamfisted negligence. thanks

Rimfire = >26" OAL in minimum fireable config.

Centwerfire = >30" OAL in minimum fireable config.

Yes, it is CA legal due to the overall length being 30" or greater with the stock folded.
