Brownells is apparently no longer shipping any standard capacity AR components to California anymore since my backorder from December was recently canceled.
I wrote them to express my displeasure and explain how mag parts are in no way illegal and that I had ordered plenty in the past.
Here is their response:
"Thank you for the email and let me clarify. While it is not a California law that makes the bodies illegal, California does have restrictions on any magazines over 10 rnds. Brownells abides by all state regulations regarding high capacity magazines and our policy has recently changed regarding that. While previously we would send the magazine bodies, springs and other mag components for magazines over 10 rnds, our compliance dept. has now put restrictions on these and we will no longer ship them to orders billing or shipping to any state with current high capacity magazine restrictions. I do apologize for the inconvenience.
I will also forward your email on to our compliance dept.
Thank you and I again apologize."
This leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and I will have to ponder whether or not to continue doing business with Brownells in the future.
I'm mainly upset because I could have ordered mag bodies from C Products or elsewhere in the meantime, but to receive this email nearly four months after placing my order is pretty cow-doo-doo (to put it nicely).
