What the hell is a magazine clip?

I have been hearing this term for the past week or two on the various news channels and from Joe Biden. It started with calling magazines clips and has morphed into this. It's driving me nuts. As an aside I heard a talking head on a news show call gun control "massacre control".

some rifles use clips, the most common being the SKS and Garand. Mag fed rifles can also use stripper clips to reload the mags; M-14/M1A, M4/AR, AK 74 etc. but I agree, most people/politicians use the two interchangeably and it's annoying.

This is not just interchangeably, they're using the term "magazine clip".

This and the New York thing make me want to boycott these clowns. It's a shame, they make a great rifle.

It's the internet's fault. I would bet some non-gun, web geek that designed their site did it that way on purpose, so no matter what a potential customer types into a web search it will come up in the results.
