Shoot copper before or after lead?

I seem to remember hearing that shooting copper jacketed after shooting lead bullets would clean the rifling up a bit. Is that true or does that run the risk of raising pressure in the barrel causing a potential safety problem?

I have heard this 'rumor' for over 25 yrs now.. I would never do it... if you shoot copper then lead.. it gives the lead something to grab onto and increases chances of bad leadding in the barrel...if you shoot lead then copper could raise barrel pressure....... my 0.04 (increased for inflation)

what i do is load one fmj then 7 swc in my 1911 mags

of course i dont know if it does any good

it could be that the bear creek bullets i use have a really good coating of whatever they use

I have personally tried shooting lead through a .357magnum, and noticed how leaded the barrel actually gets.. so then I tried shooting plated through immediately after, as I had read over and over how this "cleans the barrel up". Well, I didn't notice any dangerous side effects from trying this, but I did notice that the lead didn't really completely get cleared out, so I pretty much set aside all of the leaded rounds and have stuck to plated or jacketed rounds ever since.
