Purchasing Firearms in Arizona?

Well me and my dad were talking about buying a house near Lake Havasu, and I got to thinking about buying some firearms out there and keeping them locked up at the house when we weren't there. What is required to buy a firearm or tax stamp in AZ? An AZ Drivers License and proof of residency? I would love to have some NFA goodies locked up out there for when we go stay out there.

not much required there, but the tax stamp stuff is all federal, not state, you will need a CLEO sign-off, but all the tax stamps are federale issues.

my dad lives in AZ and all you need (for non NFA stuff) is just your AZ DL...you get to walk out with your gun the same day..no lame waiting period.

You're trying to be a smart aleck, but you're right. When you're standing there, trying to finish the fascist-inspired form and waiting for that stupid phone call...the minutes do add up.

It doesn't matter what the situation is, people will complain.

ETA: forgot to say--If you want the facts on your locale, ask a dealer in your county, you'll be surprised how many deal in such things.

As stated above by VegasND, just ask your local dealer there in Az, he will get you taken care of im sure!

Best way to get Pythons, etc, that you can't get in California unless from private parties. Get it home, fill out the form for the state, send it in with $19.00, and you now have it registered to you, Dad to son. Works nice.

Not so easy there. You can't just go get them bring them back, then fill out forms here. That's against Federal Law.

You have to have your Dad send them to an FFL here, inform the FFL you are doing an inter-familiar transfer, then pay your FFL fees and your $19 for the family transfer. Then you get to wait your 10 days.

Now I am not 100% sure of whether you can pick them all up at the same time or if you have to deal with the 1 handgun 30 day rule, being that it went through an FFL.

Don't forget, they have to go through an FFL. I have given guns to my children who live outside NV, but to be legal they must be transferred through an FFL because we live in different states (AZ and WI in my case). From reading here, it seems the weapons can be gifted, and 'the list' (ominous seeming, that) doesn't apply, DROS, wiating periods, and the added cost of being blessed with CA residence do apply.

I doubt it'll be hard to get LE to sign off on NFA in Arizona. If you put the firearm in a trust you can skip the whole LE sign off thing.

I have a CA. ID, and I am fine purchasing firearms here. So I don't see a problem with an ID cars in other States.

I disagree. Pretty sure if it goes from Father to son no FFL needs to be involved. The form number is FD 4544A (10/04) and makes no mention of location of family member gifting the gun.

The scenario was that if you Dad lived in Arizona you could just go get them, then fill out the forms here.

Would definitely needs to use an FFL. Not a California law, it's Federal Law.
