    Christmass at Walmart this morning!

So, I am doing my daily morning stop at the local SoCal Walmart at 7 am and I see a short line in Sporting Goods! Looks like a shipment is in. The cart gets wheeled out with the ammo boxes! .223, .22, 12 & 20 Gage. I was about #7 in line. By the time I got to the front the .223 was gone. BUT... There were still a few boxes of Remington .22 Golder Bullet boxes of 225 count at $9.97 each! Score!!!!! 675 rounds at 4 cents each!

Sounds more like a soup kitchen than Christmas.

Walmart is always a struggle to find ammo. I have looked at online inventory, followed calgunners tips on the deals forums and still have been reluctant to find any ammo in stock. Always odd ball calibers left on the shelf. If you bought some lately you are very lucky. I havent been lucky for at least two months.

When I got to Walmart this morning all the bricks of .22 had been sold. I did manage to pick-up two boxes of .270 Win. Core-Lokt. The guy before me purchased the last three boxes of .45 auto (250 round boxes)

I miss the good old days when the hardest part of buying ammo at Walmart was finding a surly teenager to get the manager who had the key to unlock the cabinet.

Does that 5 cent a round tax apply to .22 ammo? If so...
